Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has demanded the resumption of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight operation from Peshawar to Karachi and other destinations in the world, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

In a letter to Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, the KP governor has requested him to order the resumption of daily flights of the PIA from Peshawar to Karachi and vice versa. “People face great inconvenience due to the monopoly of a private airline on the Peshawar-Karachi route,” he has said, and added, “The airline charges excessive fares from passengers and the number of seats in its planes is also limited.”

Kundi has also demanded the resumption of PIA’s flight operation between Peshawar and the cities in Gulf and Middle East, adding that due to the absence of the airline’s flights, people of KP living overseas face great inconvenience.

The governor has stressed the need for taking steps to resurrect the national flag carrier. “I hope that the PIA will soon attain the heights it had reached in 60s and 70s.”
