Pakistani actor and host Imran Ashraf has come forward in support of fellow actor Danish Taimoor, urging social media users to show more compassion and remember an artist’s years of work before judging his entire career over a single scene.
Taking to Instagram, Imran shared a video in which he addressed the ongoing trolling surrounding Danish’s performance in drama serial ‘Nashtar’ and said he normally prefers to stay away from such discussions.
Imran began by explaining that he generally does not feel it is his place to comment on other people’s matters, but said the extent of the criticism aimed at Danish had prompted him to speak up.
He pointed out Danish’s long-standing contribution to Pakistani television and asked viewers to look beyond one controversial or heavily discussed scene.
Referring to some of Danish’s earlier work, Imran urged viewers to revisit performances such as ‘Band Khirkiyon Ke Peeche’ and ‘Raju Rocket’, while also highlighting the actor’s dramas that have accumulated massive viewership.
Imran emphasized that Danish has been appreciated not only locally but internationally as well, arguing that his years of work and established legacy should not be dismissed because of one scene.
The actor then broadened his message beyond Danish, saying the situation reflects a larger societal tendency to wait for someone to make a mistake before turning that person into a subject of ridicule.
In an emotional appeal, Imran said that society appears to have forgotten the importance of forgiveness and reminded viewers that anyone can make mistakes.
“We have forgotten how to forgive. We have stopped forgiving people. We should remember that our turn can come too, and we can make mistakes as well,” he said.
Imran also acknowledged that he could become the target of online trolling for speaking out, adding that he was willing to put himself forward and face whatever reaction followed.
Calling Danish, a “superstar of Pakistan,” Imran praised his contribution to Pakistani dramas and highlighted the actor’s international following and the huge audiences his projects have attracted.
“This is not just a video in support of one actor. This is a video for our society,” Imran explained, urging people to show greater understanding and learn to forgive.
Danish Taimoor himself responded to Imran’s message in the comments section, expressing gratitude for his colleague’s support.
“Means a lot coming from you, my brother. Thank you for speaking from the heart. That’s the kind of person you’ve always been. Alhamdulillah, I’ve received so much more love from my fans than I could ever ask for, and that’s what truly matters. Lots of love to everyone,” Danish wrote.
The comments section subsequently filled with messages supporting Danish and appreciating Imran for speaking in his defence. Senior director Wajahat Hussain and actor Ali Rehman Khan were also among those who joined the discussion with supportive reactions.
The latest show of solidarity comes as Danish has faced widespread social media trolling over an emotional scene in ‘Nashtar’, in which his character’s intense reaction to a dramatic development became the subject of memes, criticism and online debate.
While the scene divided social media users, Imran’s intervention has shifted the conversation towards the larger question of whether an artist’s entire body of work should be judged through the lens of one performance.
