The Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has sentenced Sukhdeep Singh to five years of rigorous imprisonment in a case involving the recovery of explosive material from him, reported 24NewsHDTV channel on Monday.
ATC Judge Malik Abid Hussain announced the verdict after the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) witnesses recorded their testimonies against the convict.
The prosecutor, Mian Tufail, presented evidence before the court and requested that the accused be sentenced.
Sukhdeep Singh was brought before the court from prison, and following the announcement of the verdict, the court ordered that he be transferred back to jail.
According to CTD, explosive material was recovered from Singh’s possession, while CTD Lahore maintains that he was affiliated with a proscribed organization and involved in terrorist activities.
CTD Lahore had submitted the charge sheet against the accused and registered the case.
The CTD also stated that Singh had previously been a Christian and later converted to Sikhism.
