The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered a thorough probe into 228 illegal recruitments made at Faisalabad’s University of Agriculture, reported 24NewsHD TV channe.
LHC’s Justice Khalid Ishaq on Monday issued the order on the petitions of Professor Ehsan Qadir Bhaba and others.
After listening to the arguments of all the parties, the court ordered the university syndicate to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the recruitments of all 228 people.
The court remarked that the legality, merit and transparency of the recruitments of employees and professors from Grade 1 to 22 should also be investigated.
All 228 people should be given an opportunity to be heard during the investigation, the court further directed the syndicate.
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that 228 people from small employees to professors were recruited illegally.
Former vice-chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmed Khan issued notifications of all illegal recruitments on the night of his retirement, the lawyer informed the court, adding the Punjab governor had also issued an order to the syndicate for investigating the illegal recruitments.
He further said that the all such recruited people were acting like a mafia to obstruct the investigation against them. They were only trying to hide under the cover of a court injunction, he added.
According to the law, recruitments to government jobs cannot be done in an illegal and non-transparent manner, the court was informed.
