The Judicial Commission, headed by Justice Umar Sial, investigating the murder of young entrepreneur Mir Raza Ali, has halted its work after extension in its term was not notified on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Though Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah extended the Judicial Commission’s term but referred it to the provincial cabinet for formal approval.
The initial one-month mandate of the commission originally concluded on September 27, 2026 and the commission sought the extension to thoroughly conclude its proceedings and finalize its inquiry report regarding police and medico-legal roles in the case.
The summary for extension was sent to the Chief Minister last week. The Sindh Cabinet is due to hold its meeting on October 1.
The commission which was due to quiz Investigation Officer (IO) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Siraj Lashari, along with Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) representatives today, wrapped up its proceedings and adjourned its hearing for October 2.
Talking to the media men, Mir Raza family’s lawyer Jibran Nasir said that the decision regarding the extension in Judicial Commission’s mandate should have been taken earlier.
