Pakistan’s chess team on Monday secured first position and won the gold medal in Category D at the World Chess Olympiad 2026 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Pakistani team recorded victories over Seychelles, San Marino, the Cayman Islands, and El Salvador, drew against Egypt and Yemen, and finished with 12 match points and 162 game points.
Chess Federation of Pakistan President Syed Zeeshan Ali Naqvi was present at the event, actively supporting and encouraging the national players throughout their campaign.
He congratulated the players for their outstanding performance and appreciated their hard work, determination and fighting spirit.
Syed Zeeshan Ali Naqvi said that the talented Pakistani players have brought great pride to the country by displaying their skills on the international stage. He encouraged them to continue their hard work and represent Pakistan with the same passion in future international competitions.
The Pakistan delegation proudly raised the Green Crescent Flag at the World Chess Olympiad, showcasing the strength and talent of Pakistani chess on the global stage.
Chess Federation of Pakistan Vice President Malik Rehan Azam and Secretary General Raja Gauhar Iqbal are also performing their responsibilities alongside the federation team at the Olympiad.
