Punjab Police arrested two suspects after recovering a large quantity of nuts and bolts allegedly stolen from a railway track in Narang Mandi on Monday, potentially preventing a major accident involving hundreds of passengers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to police, local residents alerted authorities after noticing the theft of railway track nuts and bolts. Police acted and arrested two suspects, identified as Shahbaz Falak Sher and Shahbaz Akbar, while another suspect managed to escape from the spot.
A substantial quantity of stolen nuts and bolts was also recovered from the suspects.
Police said hundreds of nuts and bolts had reportedly been removed from both sides of the railway track, raising serious concerns about the safety of trains operating through the area.
The arrested suspects will be handed over to the railway police for further investigation and legal proceedings, police said.
Meanwhile, efforts are underway to arrest the fleeing suspect.
