Jamiat Ulema Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has seconded the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's right to rally.

“It is the constitutional and legal right of PTI to hold a demo,” he said in his address to the National Assembly session on Monday.

He said: “The issue is not limited to whether we can hold a rally or not.

“Is this a public representative parliament or a parliament established by the establishment,” the JUI chief questioned stressing that it is a matter of serious concern.

“For how long ‘establishment’s parliament’ will go on."

He added: “We democratically created this country.  

“Neither the bureaucracy nor the establishment had any role in the creation of this country”

“Where is Quaid’s motto of unity faith, and discipline?

“Think about how long you will continue to compromise on the results that the establishment dictates

|It should be seriously considered where the country stands today”

He recalled the East Pakistan tragedy and expressed his remorse that the undemocratic way of running state affairs resulted in the split.

He said: “ We stand firm to fight against this slavery. We believe that the ‘sale and purchase of assemblies’ took place. Neither the winners nor losers of the election are satisfied.

“The JUI will hold its 'Million March’ in Karachi on May 2 and on May 9 in Peshawar. ”

He alleged that general elections in 2018 were rigged and the same was repeated in the February 8 elections. “Those, who fought for powers, got powers through rigged elections,” he added.

The JUI chief yesterday threatened to topple the government by agitation, saying: “Those, who kept JUI-F out of parliament, must listen that we will raise our voice against their injustices and cruelties on streets.

He said those, who had constantly raised concerns over the rigged elections held in 2018, were silent on the rigging in the February 8 elections.

He said the JUI has always played a leading role against election manipulation whenever it was reported. He said the JUI elders had fought the war for the independence of the subcontinent and they created awareness among people through Azadi March.

He said that they were independent and would never accept subjugation. He said that they would fight in ‘public assembly’ against the forces that rigged elections as they had come out to save the country. He said that his party would restore real democracy by toppling the government currently imposed on the country.
