Counter-Terrorism Department Monday arrested four terrorists involved in the killing of five Chinese engineers in the Bisham terror attack on March 26 this year.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, these terrorists belong to a banned organisation, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The CTD officials said that the arrested four terrorists also identified some other terrorists involved in their network and attempts are being made to identify and arrest the entire network behind the attack.
The CTD officials said on March 26, there was an attack on the vehicle of Chinese engineers in Bisham, and the arrested terrorists were involved in the same attack.
It is worth mentioning that five Chinese workers along with their driver were killed on Tuesday (March 26, 2024) when a suicide bomber targeted their vehicle in Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Their vehicle plunged into a deep ravine off the mountainous Karakoram Highway after the bomber rammed his car into them and detonated his explosives, police said.
"Five Chinese and their local driver were killed in the attack," Muhammad Ali Gandapur, the Malakand regional police chief, said. He added the vehicle was travelling between the Dasu hydroelectric dam site, under construction by the China Gezhouba Group Company, and the capital Islamabad.
Police have said that as per preliminary investigation, it appeared that the bus in which five Chinese engineers were travelling on the day they were killed in a suicide attack at Bisham, district Shangla in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was not bullet or bomb-proof.
In their second report sent to the federal government on the incident, the police have said that a female engineer was also among those killed on that ill-fated day.
The report says that as per the image taken of the site of the incident from the air, the bus that was destroyed in the attack was 15 feet away from the second one, and that following the suicide blast the bus fell into 300-feet deep ravine.
Pakistani leadership strongly condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with the Chinese.
