An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Tuesday granted the police six day physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed.
Earlier in the day, the court had heard both sides and then reserved its verdict in this case.
Pleading his client’s case, Sanam Javed’s lawyer Mian Ali Ashfaq said that his client is a political worker and she was being victimized politically. He said that a case was registered against Sanam in February and the terrorism charges were added to the First Information Report (FIR) 80 days later.
ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill heard the case.
Sanam and her husband Prof Atiq Ahmad were arrested by the police in Lahore on Monday near Kot Lakhpat Jail where Sanam Javed had just finished a court hearing related to the May 9 violence.
