The Sindh government has announced a public holiday for workers on 1 May to mark International Labour Day, also known as the day commemorating the Chicago labour movement.
According to the Labour and Human Resources Department Sindh, an official notification has been issued confirming the holiday.
The department said the holiday will be observed on Friday, allowing workers across the province a day off in recognition of their contribution.
Officials stated that the decision has been taken under the provisions of the Factories Act 2015.
The announcement applies to factories, industrial units and other private sector workplaces, where employees will be granted a general holiday.
The move aims to observe Labour Day in honour of workers’ rights and their role in economic development.
