Hot and dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of the country tonight, according to the latest forecast, with chances of rain and thunderstorms limited to northern areas.
Meteorological officials said that while the majority of regions will continue to experience dry conditions, a few areas in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are likely to receive rain accompanied by strong winds and thundershowers.
On Thursday, the federal capital Islamabad and its surrounding areas are expected to remain hot and dry, although partly cloudy conditions may develop in the afternoon.
In Punjab, most districts will experience hot and dry weather, with southern parts likely to face extremely high temperatures. Cooler hill areas such as Murree and the Galiyat are expected to see dry to partly cloudy conditions.
Similarly, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will largely remain hot and dry. However, upper districts including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Kurram, Waziristan and Parachinar may witness partly cloudy skies along with light rain and thunderstorms at isolated places.
In Sindh, extremely hot and dry weather is expected to persist in most districts. Strong and dusty winds are also likely to affect central and southern areas during the afternoon hours.
Balochistan will continue to experience hot and dry conditions, with southern districts expected to face extreme heat.
Meanwhile, weather in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan is forecast to remain partly cloudy, with chances of light rain accompanied by gusty winds and thundershowers in a few areas.
The highest temperatures recorded in the country today were in Turbat and Shaheed Benazirabad at 46°C, followed by Skrand at 45°C. Other areas including Dadu, Lasbela and Mohenjo-daro recorded temperatures of 44°C.
