The Pak Army has placed additional troops on 12-hour notice to tackle the worsening flood situation in Punjab’s rivers, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Across Punjab, the army has already deployed six rescue teams along the Sutlej and Ravi rivers, with operations ongoing at Head Sulemanki and Atari, where flood victims are being relocated.
In Sahiwal and Head Sulemanki, rescue preparations have been finalised, while along the Ravi River, three army teams equipped with boats and rescue gear have been stationed at Jandraka.
In Okara, army units, in coordination with the civil administration, have rescued 423 people trapped in floodwaters and shifted them to safer locations.
The Okara district administration has also set up relief camps in Jandraka, Mubalke, and Bangla Gogera.
In Sargodha, army personnel using boats have evacuated women and children from flood-hit areas, while in Kot Momin, around 1,500 people have already been shifted to safe zones.
In Kasur district, over 18,000 residents, along with livestock, have been evacuated.
The Army, in collaboration with the civil administration in Kasur, has set up 21 rescue and relief camps, ensuring food, shelter, and emergency medical care.
Rescue efforts are also ongoing in Mandi Ahmadabad, Ganda Singh Wala, and Okara.
Meanwhile, relief and rescue operations are in full swing in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, and Head Khanki, where flood victims are being airlifted via helicopters and ferried by boats to safety.
The Pakistan Army continues to work in close coordination with police, irrigation, health, livestock, Rescue 1122, and civil defence departments to ensure maximum support for flood victims.
