An 11-year-old girl, Kainat, a resident of Dhok Chaudhryan, died during treatment at Holy Family Hospital, allegedly due to the negligence of doctors, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Friday.
According to hospital sources, the girl was admitted three days ago with complaints of stomach pain. Doctors operated on her appendix, after which her condition deteriorated further. Despite repeated appeals from the family, the parents claimed doctors failed to address her worsening pain.
“They told us something was left inside the stomach during the operation and it would be removed with medicine,” Kainat’s father alleged. “We kept crying that our daughter was in pain and could die, but no doctor listened.”
Hospital authorities confirmed that a three-member fact-finding committee has been constituted to probe the matter. The committee includes Dr. Farooq Kasana (AMS Admin), Dr. Akhtar (DMS Admin), and Dr. Rana (AMS Paediatrics). It has been tasked with submitting a detailed report to the Secretary Health Punjab.
Officials assured that strict action will be taken against any doctor found guilty of negligence.
