In a major relief for temporary schoolteachers, the School Education Department has decided to extend the contracts of School Teacher Interns (STIs) across the province.
Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced that the extension will cover teachers serving in primary, middle, high, and higher secondary schools. In addition, contracts of matriculation-level and technologist teachers will also be renewed.
The provincial government had initially hired around 12,000 STIs for a period of three months, but the extension aims to address ongoing teacher shortages and ensure continuity in the education process.
Officials confirmed that the extended contracts will take effect immediately.
