Four members of a same family were shot dead while another woman got critically injured in the firing incident in Sheikhupura, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to police, the deceased included Shah Muhammad, his wife Ashraf Bibi, daughter Kiran and 8-year-old Rauf.
According to DPO Zahid Nawaz Marwat, it is still too early to say what was the motive behind the killings. He said forensic teams are collecting evidence from the crime scene.
As per the initial reports, the Sheikhupura incident took place because the injured woman had recently got married for the second time, and the accused shot her because of his grudge.
According to the police, three members of the family survived because they were not present in the house, while none of the accused who opened fire could be arrested.
Punjab IG Police Dr Usman Anwar took notice of the incident and ordered the Sheikhupura DPO to investigate every aspect of the incident and arrest the accused. He directed that provision of justice to the relatives should be ensured on a priority basis.
