Pakistan Railways has extended the date for submission of tender forms by two weeks for outsourcing of eight trains, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
According to sources, no tender was submitted by a single firm due to lack of interest from private sector due to which the last date was extended to February 12, 2026.
The policies made in haste by the Railway Headquarters authorities started to become ineffective.
It became impossible for the Railway authorities to outsource 8 trains.
The new benchmarks of trains to generate additional revenue started to prove useless.
A month has passed, no tender form has been submitted by any private firm or company.
The increase in benchmarks led to lack of interest in trains from the private sector.
There was a plan to privatize Hazara Express, Millat Express, Bahauddin Zakaria Express, Farid Express, Ravi Express, Thal Express, Faiz Ahmed Faiz Passenger and Mohenjodaro Passenger.
The headquarters had issued an advertisement for submission of tenders by January 2026.
