The mortuary of Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, has been without electricity for the last six days, reported by 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

Sources told the 24News TV channel that the dead bodies kept there had begun to rot due to the closure of air-conditioners.

Now the mortuary staff, they disclosed, had refused to keep more corpses.

Sources further said that the power outage was due to a fault in the ground cable, which had not been repaired as yet despite repeated reminders to the Allama Iqbal Medical College vice-chancellor (VC).

However, sources in the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) said that a fault in the cable was to blame for the power breakdown, and that the company had nothing to do with it.

LESCO’s transformer was functioning as usual, sources said while quoting the LESCO officials, adding it was the university that was responsible for the repair of the wire.
