PTI chief Barrister Gohar has criticized judicial system for allegedly not granting fair trial right to PTI lawmakers by the courts and were disqualified intentionally, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
Talking to media in Islamabad on Tuesday, Barrister Gohar said fair trial right was being denied to arrested PTI leaders and workers and it was being feared that PTI lawmakers will be disqualified leaders and PTI was not being allowed to arrange lawyer of their own choice as courts said they had to finalized the cases. He said it was the constitutional right of PTI leaders and workers to fight cases with lawyers of their choice.
He claimed, “in Faisalabad when PTI leaders told the judge that they have to hire a lawyer, then judge appointed a state council”.
Barrister Gohar said the requirements of a fair trial were not met. He demanded that Election Commission should follow the constitution and the law instead of giving explanations. He demanded of Election Commission to take notice and heard PTI before passing any order.
Barrister Gohar said Election Commission has shown haste, this should not have happened. He said Article 63 clearly stated that the party was heard before disqualification. The Election Commission has ninety days in such cases. Is it necessary for the Election Commission to hear a sentence of ten years even if it is life imprisonment?
