Search for missing tourists continues at Babusar Top

Search for the tourists, who had gone missing from Babusar Highway in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), is continuing for the eighth consecutive day, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

Local volunteers are also participating in the search operation. 

Meanwhile, work is underway at Thak, Niat, Batoga, Thorr, Khunr, Tangeer and Khanbari for the rehabilitation of people affected by floods. 

Work is also underway at Ganche, Baln, Astore, Gilgit, Ghazar and other areas.  

Spokesman for the GB government Faizullah Firaq has said that the vehicle of a private TV channel’s anchor has been found. “Search operation is going on at a brisk pace as locals are also participating in it,” he said, adding, “Steps are being taken for the restoration of water and power supply to the affected areas.”

Firaq has informed that irrigation channels are also being restored. 

The spokesman has expressed the resolve that the provincial government would continue to work till the rehabilitation of all flood victims.   

He has said that the destruction caused by floods in the province is massive and that time is required to rehabilitate the affected people. “Flood victims will also be compensated for their losses,” he has assured.
