Accusing the PML-N of rigging the general elections held in Mirpur, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Wednesday that the PPP was pitted against the party (PML-N), which was the product of rigging right from the word go, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing the party workers in Muzaffarabad, he said that the PPP was not willing to accept the results of 30 constituencies. “I have with me the results of these constituencies,” he said, and vowed to get all those seats on which PPP candidates had won back.
He dared the AJK election commission to investigate rigging claims if it was sure, it had nothing to hide.
PPP chairman, however, expressed the hope that the people of Muzaffarabad would foil the PML-N’s bid to rig the elections on August 2.
He said that the PPP was never given power on a platter.
He further said that today the prime minister as well as the Punjab chief minister had managed to sneak into power courtesy Form-47.
“How on earth the PML-N leaders can say they did not rig the elections,” he said, adding that the PPP had managed to reach the corridors of power despite rigging by the PML-N.
He reiterated that the PPP would never accept the election results.
Bilawal said that he wanted to get the people of AJK their rights.
He stressed the need for the introduction of reforms so that the grievances of the people of AJK could be communicated to the Center.
The PPP chairman said these were the people of Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch and Mirpur who had to decide their own affairs.
Bilawal also hit out at the PTI’s decision to boycott the polls, saying no political party had ever got its rights by boycotting the polls. “To boycott the polls means to make the Center and Punjab intervene in your affairs,” he opined.
PPP leader calls upon AJK CJ to take notice
Also on Wednesday, PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf called upon the AJK chief justice (CJ) to take suo moto notice of rigging in the general elections held in Mirpur.
He said that rigging done in the elections was unprecedented. "More votes were cast in Chadhoi than the number of registered voters," he said, adding that these were not the people who voted for the PML-N, but those who put stamps on ballot papers.
