Sunda Ayari, a 19-year-old Tunisian girl, who had come to Karachi to marry a local boy and was later divorced, would now be flown to her country within 24 hours, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Earlier, Sunda was brought from Islamabad to Karachi on board a PIA flight.
On the other hand, the Tunisian embassy staff in Pakistan has thanked the 24NewsHD TV channel, saying it came to know about the girl after reading about her ordeal on the channel’s website.
On Saturday, 24News TV channel reported that a Tunisian girl reached a police station in Karachi after obtaining a divorce from her Pakistani husband.
According to details, on November 28, 2024, 19-year-old Sunda arrived in Karachi after her friendship with Mohammad Amir on Facebook, a resident of Layari.
Initially, parents of Mohammad Amir rejected their marriage proposal, but later they agreed.
On November 29, 2024, the couple married, and their Nikkah was registered in the Baghdadi Union Council.
But only after seven months of their marriage, Mohammad Amir divorced Ayari.
The girl approached the police for help. She informed the police that her ex-husband tortured her and later divorced her.
She further said that her Pakistani visa had expired on February 18, 2025 and she had no money to meet her daily expenses.
She told the police that she wanted to return to Tunisia. She appealed to the government to issue her an exit permit.
The police said that they summoned the husband of the girl to the police station, and the husband said that he had already divorced her.
It is necessary to mention here that the girl did not lodge any complaint against her former husband.
Sources said that the girl would be sent back to her country within four to five days.
Interior Minister takes notice
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday took notice of an appeal of a divorced Tunisian girl and ordered the issuance of an exit permit to her immediately.
After the directive, the visa officials of the interior ministry directed the woman to submit relevant documents to them.
They further asked her to submit an online application for the issuance of an exit permit.
The officials assured that an exit permit will be issued to her as soon as her application is received.
