Former National Assembly speaker and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser said that efforts were being made to secure additional convictions against former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan. So, he said that people across the country should stand together in support of justice and democratic rights.
Addressing a press conference after a meeting with the Balochistan National Party (BNP) Chairman Akhtar Mengal at his residence in Quetta, he said he had come to Balochistan carrying a message of goodwill from both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and PTI.
He said the PTI's stance on the Balochistan province was clear and that the province should receive its due rights in accordance with the law and the Constitution.
The PTI leader argued that governments in Balochistan had often been formed without genuine public support. He said there is no writ of government in Balochistan.
He claimed that many representatives in the provincial assembly did not truly reflect the will of the people, adding that denying citizens their fundamental rights had contributed to the worsening situation in the province.
Asad Qaiser expressed concern over the security situation, saying that government authority appeared weak in several areas and that major highways had become unsafe. He criticised the punishment handed to rights activist Mahrang Baloch and called for her release.
Highlighting economic concerns, he said that incidents of violence on highways were discouraging investment and harming business activity.
He warned that the closure of trade border crossings had increased unemployment and contributed to growing frustration among young people. He urged the authorities to reopen border routes without delay.
Qaiser further called for the implementation of the National Action Plan to address security challenges. He also criticised recent legislative activity, claiming that laws passed by the National Assembly had failed to address the needs and concerns of ordinary citizens.
