Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has urged the United States to pressure Israel to withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon, during a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump.
According to the Lebanese presidency, Aoun called on Washington to use its influence to ensure the withdrawal of Israeli troops and help prevent violations of the ceasefire framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel.
The Lebanese president also stressed the need for US support in ensuring that all parties comply with the terms of the agreement and avoid actions that could undermine regional stability.
Aoun reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to fully implementing its obligations under the Lebanon-Israel framework agreement, saying Beirut would continue to honour its responsibilities as part of the ceasefire arrangements.
The two leaders also discussed the security situation along the Lebanon-Israel border and the importance of maintaining peace and preventing further escalation in the region.
