The aftershocks of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)'s ticket distribution for the upcoming Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections continue to shake the party, with another major setback emerging from the Central Bagh constituency, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.
Brigadier (retd) Prof Dr Muhammad Khan, a former PML-N candidate from LA-15 Bagh, has announced his resignation from the party after being denied the election ticket.
He has also resigned from the party's basic membership with immediate effect.
Dr Muhammad Khan sent his resignation to PML-N Azad Jammu Kashmir President Shah Ghulam Qadir, expressing disappointment over what he described as a decision made against merit despite strong public support for his candidature.
In his resignation, he said the party leadership had ignored merit, transparency, and democratic principles, leaving thousands of loyal workers disheartened.
He maintained that despite receiving overwhelming backing from the people of LA-15 Bagh, he was denied the party ticket.
He further stated that the decision contradicted the party's slogan of "Respect the Vote" and had deeply disappointed party workers.
Calling it a difficult decision, he said he was forced to leave the party because of injustice and the violation of merit.
According to sources, dozens of senior PML-N office-bearers and local leaders from Bagh are also expected to quit the party alongside Brig (retd) Prof Dr Muhammad Khan and join a new political party later today.
