CM Maryam says govt committed to women empowerment

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that the government was committed to women empowerment and in this regard all out measures being adopted, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel. 

Maryam Nawaz Sharif was addressing Women Leaders Award ceremony on the eve of International Women's Day. 

CM Maryam saluted the women who received the award. Maryam Nawaz said that “the journey to independence is not easy for a woman. My journey as a woman is not much different from others, everything looks good from a distance but it is not like that at all”. 

CM Maryam said In Punjab, women were being given opportunities to earn a living with protection. “I am as happy to see the roads and parks of Punjab decorated as a mother is. If even a small park is built in a small city, there is no end to the happiness”, she added. 

Punjab CM said, “today the Chief Minister, Chief Justice, Ministers, Secretaries, Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and DPOs in Punjab are women. Women are joining the Pakistan Army, Air Force and Navy, becoming doctors, it makes me happy to see them”. CM Maryam said there was no quota for women in any scheme, no matter how many come on open merit.
