A professor at a medical college in India's city Bengaluru was allegedly assaulted by a female student and several classmates after he proposed to her during a class, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday, with social media footage appearing to show the confrontation and its aftermath.
Indian media said the professor expressed his feelings for the student during class, prompting an immediate objection and a heated argument.
In the video circulating online, the professor is seen speaking into a microphone and saying he wanted to propose to “one of the most important girls” in his batch.
In another clip, he appears to tell the student she had earlier said “I love you,” a claim she strongly denies.
The footage later appears to show the student, along with other classmates, hitting the professor with slippers and slaps inside the classroom.
