Famous television star Yumna Zaidi has stepped forward to set the record straight after a viral childhood picture falsely attributed to her sparked online debate.
Taking to her Instagram handle, Yumna posted a clarifying statement: “This is not my childhood picture. It’s an identity-based disinformation. Any data or information should be rectified before airing on national television. Thanks.”
The controversy erupted following a lighthearted segment on a recent Eid special, where Javeria Saud displayed childhood photos of various celebrities and challenged guests to identify them.
While giving hints, Javeria jokingly remarked, “Some people have been working since the stone age and now they’ve finally grown up,” prompting a guest to answer, “Yumna Zaidi,” which triggered laughter across the set.
Actor Yasir Hussain was seen laughing vibrantly along with the rest of the audience.
While the moment was intended as playful, social media quickly reacted, with many users criticizing Javeria for age-shaming and labeling her comment as insensitive.
Fans came to Yumna’s defense, highlighting the inaccuracy of the viral photo and calling for accountability in spreading misinformation.
The debate reignited conversations about respect for celebrities and responsible broadcasting in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
