Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered fixing the price of roti in line with the new reduced flour rates, reported 24News HD TV on Thursday.
The chief minister directed that roti prices be lowered across Punjab following the slide in flour prices. She has instructed the Price Control Department to take immediate action to reduce rates.
Moreover, she has also ordered a strict monitoring of prices for chicken, vegetables, and lentils.
"A poor child used to eat affordable chicken once a week," says CM Maryam Nawaz. "If chicken becomes more expensive, the poor won’t even be able to afford it once a week – I will not tolerate this," She declared.
According to the CM, the reduction in the cost of flour is aimed to benefit the poorest members of our society s that they can afford to feed themselves. In this effort, she has pledged to bring roti prices down to their lowest level in history.
