A Bykeya rider was injured after being caught in an exchange of fire between police and suspects during an alleged kidnapping attempt involving a girl in the Dhok Kala Khan area of Rawalpindi, according to police and statements from the victim.
Police said the suspects, accused of attempting to abduct a girl at gunpoint, managed to escape following the firefight despite the arrival of Dolphin Force personnel at the scene.
According to the first information report (FIR) registered at Sadiqabad Police Station on May 27, the complaint was filed by the girl’s mother, who accused a man identified as Arsalan and his accomplices of attempting to kidnap her daughter.
The complainant stated in the FIR that the accused arrived armed and tried to forcibly abduct her daughter. She alleged that Arsalan grabbed the girl’s hand and opened fire during the incident.
Police said Dolphin Force officials reached the scene during the firing, triggering an exchange of gunfire with the suspects.
The FIR further stated that a passerby traveling on a motorcycle sustained bullet injuries during the firing. The injured man, identified as Aliyan, later recorded a video statement describing the incident.
In his statement, the injured biker alleged that Dolphin Force personnel mistakenly identified him as an accomplice of the suspects and opened fire on him.
“I ride a bike for a living. Dolphin officers fired at me nine times,” Aliyan said in the video statement after the incident.
He further stated that after the shooting, Punjab Police shifted him to a hospital for medical treatment.
The complainant in the kidnapping case also alleged that a separate case had previously been registered against the accused at Sadiqabad Police Station over accusations of harassing her daughter.
Police said investigations into the incident were underway and efforts were being made to arrest the suspects who fled the scene.
