Justice Jawad Hassan of the Lahore High Court has said that mental health and reduced stress are essential for every individual—especially for judges who deal daily with sensitive matters related to fundamental rights and the delivery of justice.

Addressing the completion ceremony of various training courses for district judiciary judges at the Punjab Judicial Academy, Justice Jawad Hassan said that a judge does not fall victim to unnecessary stress when he possesses complete command over the law and has full grasp of the case file and all its aspects.

Referring to his own professional experience, Justice Jawad Hassan said that he has handled highly important and challenging cases but has never been under any kind of mental pressure.

Justice Jawad emphasized the importance of public confidence in the judiciary, stating that a strong and transparent judicial system is based on the trust of the people.

Therefore, it is essential for judges to announce their judgments in open court so that judicial proceedings remain transparent in the eyes of the public. He also stressed that decisions should not be unnecessarily delayed and cases must be disposed of promptly.

Justice Jawad Hassan further said that new and modern training courses on “Judge Crafting” are being introduced at the Judicial Academy to enhance the skills of judges according to contemporary needs.

The Punjab Judicial Academy, he added, carries the significant responsibility of training the district judiciary of Pakistan’s largest province.

He appreciated the steps taken by the Honorable Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Justice Aalia Neelum, for improving the capacity of the district judiciary and for the welfare of both judges and judicial staff. Justice Jawad Hassan noted that the training and capacity-building of judicial staff is equally important, as they are a fundamental pillar of the judicial system.

The ceremony was attended by Civil Judges, Senior Civil Judges, and Additional Sessions Judges who completed a five-day training program at the Punjab Judicial Academy on the interpretation of revenue documents, stress management techniques, and the use of artificial intelligence in judicial work.
