Gas companies across Pakistan have submitted applications to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) seeking an increase in gas prices for the ongoing fiscal year 2025–26.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the Sui gas companies have requested tariff hikes of up to 28.62 percent across the country.
A 22 percent increase in gas tariffs has been proposed for Sindh and Balochistan.
For Islamabad, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has sought a 28.62 percent rise in tariffs, requesting an increase of Rs189 per million British thermal units (MMBtu).
The gas companies have also recommended an increase of Rs316.64 in liquefied natural gas (LNG) service charges.
Sui Northern has proposed fixing the average gas price at Rs1,955.50 per MMBtu, compared to the current average price of Rs1,766.50 per MMBtu.
In its application, Sui Northern has estimated a revenue shortfall of Rs 52.95 billion. OGRA is scheduled to hear Sui Northern’s case on November 7.
Meanwhile, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has requested an increase of Rs125.41 per MMBtu and proposed setting the average gas price at Rs1,783.96 per MMBtu. OGRA will conduct a hearing on Sui Southern’s petition on November 11.
Both gas companies have sought these increases for the current fiscal year 2025–26 to address rising operational costs and revenue deficits.
