The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set for major expansion as its CEO Salman Naseer announced that two new franchises will be added through an auction process ahead of the next season.
Speaking at a press conference in Karachi on Wednesday, Salman Naseer said that when the PSL first began, interest was limited, but five parties showed confidence in the league and purchased teams — laying the foundation for what has become one of Pakistan’s premier sporting brands.
He noted that despite attempts by some to discredit the league, the PSL continued to progress and grow stronger over the years.
“All contracts signed during the initial phase of the league have now expired after ten successful editions, and we had decided that a revaluation process would take place after the tenth edition,” he said.
The PSL CEO confirmed that an auction will be held for the two new franchises, with bidding parties being provided a pool of city names from which they will select one for their team.
Salman Naseer further announced that HBL will continue as the title sponsor of the Pakistan Super League for the next two years.
He revealed that the new sponsorship deal represents a 505% increase in value compared to the previous agreement, based on an independent market valuation.
He added that the PSL’s sustained success and commercial growth reflect the league’s strong fan following, credibility, and role in the development of Pakistan cricket.
