Former Punjab governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has come down hard on the PTI leadership for directing him to commit “an unconstitutional task”, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a news conference at the Governor’s House in Lahore on Sunday after his dismissal, a belligerent Chaudhry Sarwar claimed that he met with Prime Minister Imran Khan twice and in the second meeting he offered his resignation.

He further revealed that in the first meeting along with the other PTI leaders, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak had asked him to sign the paper and upon the inquiry he was told that it was the summary for summoning the Punjab Assembly session on 2nd of April.

Sarwar said Pervez Khattak told him Pervaiz Elahi would be defeated if the assembly session would not be called earlier because they could not manage the required numbers to win the chief minister slot if the session is delayed.

He said, “I accepted that I raised my voice for the one time but because I did not want to commit any unconstitutional act.”

Moving on, Sarwar said he was being blamed for playing on both sides, but noted that he was not interested in the politics of "foul language" and warned that if he was attacked, he would retaliate.

Sarwar expressed his regret that he was sacked in the dead of the night at a time when he was even ready to tender resignation.

Sarwar recalled that all 184 PTI lawmakers in Punjab Assembly and workers were surprised and saddened by the selection of Usman Buzdar.

He said that if there was any international conspiracy then it was Imran Khan’s decision to nominate Usman Buzdar for Punjab CM slot who plundered PTI dreams of building Naya Pakistan. Sarwar said he is with the PTI workers at this time.

Sarwar said that even deputy commissioners were appointed after bribes and the mockery of Naya Pakistan dream was made under Usman Buzdar.

He said when the PTI was in the opposition the party was strong. He said that he must advise one thing to all the political parties, “We are a poor country and we should be in our limits. Our largest trading partner is the European Union. I brought GSP+ status after much hard work.”
