As many as six dacoits Tuesday surrendered to the police releasing all 22 hostages of a family in Jamshoro, Sindh, the 24News HD TV channel reported.

According to details, the dacoits broke into a house in the Wapda Colony in Jamshoro city and made all 22 family members including 12 females hostage at gunpoint.

A family member Salamat Soomro said the armed dacoits gathered all the family members in a room and locked the door from outside. He said the dacoits held them, hostage, for more than two hours.

Salamat using the cellular phone secretly called the Sindh police and the 24News HD TV channel and told the situation. Sindh police and Rangers immediately cordoned off the house and placed a heavy contingent of law enforcement personals there.

Following the situation, the dacoits initially demanded a save passage for them. They also threatened to take three media persons as hostages with them as well for the assurance.

The dacoits demanded the police that they would not be checked at any check post in the city when they move from the house with hostages. They also threatened to kill the family members if their demands would not be accepted.

Anyhow, after some negotiations with the police and assurance of not to kill them in police encounters, the dacoits dropped their idea to escape and surrendered. They also released the entire family without hurting.

Sindh police arrested all six dacoits on their surrender peacefully and shifted them to an unknown location for further investigations.
