The Punjab government has decided to auction 12 African lions and lionesses living in the Zoo Safari of Lahore on August 11.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, the auction will start with a bid of one and a half lac rupees for a wild animal each.

Deputy Director Tanveer Janjua said that the auction will be held at the Zoo Safari Park in Lahore where 3 lions and 9 lionesses will be sold due to lack of space.

Zoo Safari is under the provincial government’s Wildlife Department and it has only a space of keeping only 28 lions and lionesses in the park but nowadays there is a total of 40 lions and lionesses.

The deputy director said the lions will be auctioned to the registered farmers of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) following all the terms and conditions.
