Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has penned a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial requesting him to hold an independent judicial inquiry into the killing of slain journalist Arshad Sharif, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Becoming a part of the mass movement, the former premier Imran Khan also wrote that “Please constitute a judicial commission and take suo moto notice on the assassination of Arshad Sharif Shaheed. This is the demand of the entire nation.”

Arshad Sharif, a strong supporter of PTI chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, was shot dead in Kenya’s Nairobi city on October 23.

On Saturday, PTI’s Twitter account shared a video of Imran writing the letter and stated, “In this movement initiated by Pakistani citizens, thousands of Pakistanis have written a letter to the chief justice until now.”

PTI parliamentarians had also filed petitions to the Supreme Court for “clear investigations regarding the Shaheed Arshad Sharif case, Imran Khan assassination attempt case and Senator Azam Swati case”.

Imran and other PTI leaders have been demanding an investigation into the “targeted killing” of the renowned journalist.

The journalist’s mother had also penned a letter to the CJP on November 2 requesting the formation of a high-powered judicial commission to investigate the murder.

So far, hundreds of thousands of citizens irrespective of their affiliations have written letters to the CJP seeking justice for the slain journalist Arshad Sharif.  All the letters lamented that it has been over a month since the murder of Arshad Sharif, yet those responsible have not been punished.
