Reposting Shahzad Qasim as PM special aide on power has been made with the hope that he would play a pivotal role in resolving issues related to the energy sector, 24NewsHD reported on Thursday.

The report cited sources as saying that Qasim could not deliver previously as an unelected cabinet member and federal cabinet secretary created hurdles.

As he made a complaint to the premier, Shahzad Qasim was transferred to the mineral division, the sources said, adding that this time, the aide has been appointed ‘on the recommendation of a senior minister who is the strongest cabinet member’.

The senior minister is also shouldering responsibilities of resolving issues of the energy sector and assisting probe panels digging into circular debt and other irregularities in the power sector, the sources said.

A couple of days ago, the federal government set up a four-member committee led by Shahzad to investigate the fuel crisis.  The committee will submit its report to the prime minister by July 10.
