Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Security Moeed Yusuf Wednesday announced a new policy for the passengers arriving in Pakistan, saying they would be tested for the coronavirus but sent to their home for quarantine without waiting for results.

They'll be added to the track and trace system, he said, adding that the provincial governments would be able to follow up to ensure health and safety of the passengers and the public.

In a series of tweets, Moeed said the number of passengers returning to the country was being increased, as another 20,000 passengers would arrive in Pakistan by June 10.

“As suggested by the PM yesterday, we have been able to further increase the number of inbound passengers per week through expediting the testing process - with 20,000 passengers planned for repatriation by 10th June, up from approx. 10,000 in the previous phase.”

The special assistant also promised further good news in the form of even more liberalisation of this policy as the government was analysing the passenger data.
