Punjab Assembly Speaker Parvez Elahi has said that no discussion on the no-trust motion was held during Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.
A huge no-confidence (motion) cooker is firing up. Something will come out of it, let’s wait till it comes to boil,” he replied to a query in a lighter vein. The prime minister is not worried, he added. He praised the cut in prices of petroleum products and electricity.
PML -Q leader Tariq Bashir Cheema made it clear on Wednesday that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit has nothing to do with a no-confidence motion
The PM visited the party leadership to enquire after ex-premier Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and wished him good health, Tariq said, adding that Parvez Elahi has been empowered to hold discussions and make decisions about the matter.
“I want to make it clear that the parliamentary party meeting mandated Ch Parvez to make the final decision and he has not decided so far,” he stressed.
In response to reports of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif’s invitation to the PML-Q leadership to a dinner, Tariq said he was oblivious of it. He said the party would respond in a positive manner if it receives such an invitation. In reply to a question about party ‘tilt’, he said Parvez Elahi can respond to this.
