Renowned Azad Kashmir physician Dr Sadiq Hussain dies

Poonch Medical College Associate Professor Pediatrics Dr Sadiq Hussain has passed away due to coronavirus at CMH Rawalpindi on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The funeral prayers of the deceased will be offered at 3:30pm at Rawalakot, Azad Jammu Kashmir.

Dr Sadiq Hussain, 55, contracted COVID-19 and was admitted to a hospital for treatment. The late doctor has been battling the coronavirus for the last few days but he breathed his last on Tuesday at CMH Rawalpindi.

He was also performing as a consultant at CMH Rawalakot. Dr Sadiq Hussain was former President of Pakistan Islamic Medical Association Azad Kashmir.

Pakistan Islamic Medical Association has expressed its utmost grief at the sad demise of Dr Sadiq Hussain and lauded the services of the late Dr Sadiq for the medical profession.

Last Saturday, a senior Khyber Pakhtunkhwa doctor died of coronavirus, bringing the death toll of doctors who fell prey to the Covid-19 in the province to 20.

Dr Sultan Zeb has been infected by the coronavirus several days ago and was under treatment at Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar. He was Associate Dean at Khyber College of Dentistry.

It may be mentioned here that Pakistan reported more than 1,100 new coronavirus cases for the second consecutive day, as the overall number increased to 336,260 during the past 24 hours (Monday), the latest figures released by National Command and Operation Centre showed on Tuesday morning.

It means 1,167 people tested positive on Monday while another 14 died of the coronavirus, raising the toll to 6,849 in the country.

Sindh continues to be the most affected province with 146,774 people infected. The regional distribution of the coronavirus cases for other provinces/regions is given as: Punjab 104,894, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 39,749, Islamabad 20,243, Balochistan 15,977, Azad Kashmir 4,330 and Gilgit-Baltistan 4,293.

The abovementioned figures show that an alarming increase in new cases is being witnessed in Punjab where the virus has been found in another 870 people during the past two days.
