Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Sirajul Haq has said the region cannot return to normalcy until the Kashmir issue is resolved, reported 24News HD TV channel on Sunday.

Addressing a condolence reference for Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gillani organised by JI, Sirajul Haq said that a decisive battle must be fought for the independence of occupied Kashmir in order to save Pakistan. He said if Kashmir and GB were made interim provinces, the Modi government will take advantage of this and as long as they were in the parliament, they would allow this.

Sirajul Haq said abandoning Kashmir's cause would be a betrayal to the ideology of Pakistan. There were many opportunities for the independence of Kashmir which were wasted by our rulers, he said and added that the world’s history was full of revolutions. “If Afghan can defeat the superpower then why Kashmir cannot be freed,” he questioned.

Siraj-ul-Haq said that the people of Occupied Kashmir laid their lives for freedom from the clutches of India. They accepted martyrdom but did not accept food or medicine from the Indian Army, he added. He demanded that the OIC meeting be called in Pakistan and the issue of Occupied Kashmir be discussed.
In a condolence reference, Hurriyat leader Ghulam Muhammad Safi, JI Azad Kashmir chapter chief Dr Khalid and other speakers said that Syed Ali Gilani's struggle for independence was unforgettable. They paid rich tribute to the struggle of Syed Ali Gilani.
