Islamabad police probe who shined laser beam at an incoming plane

Police in Islamabad are investigating who shined a yellow laser beam at a plane coming for landing at the federal capital’s international airport.

Unidentified persons pointed yellow beam laser on Qatar Airways flight QR632 just before landing at Islamabad International Airport, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

The flight was en route from Doha to Islamabad as it approached the airport for landing some people from a private housing society in Phase 8 located near the airport shined the yellow beam of a laser at the aircraft, the TV channel reported, quoting its sources.

It has been reported that the laser beam was pointed from seven nautical miles before the landing at the airport.

Qatar Airways flight captain contacted the air traffic controller and informed them about the incident. Later, a complaint has been lodged with the Rawat Police Station.

Police have been investigating the incident and questioning people in the private housing society from where the laser beam targeted the Qatar Airways plane.
