In a significant overnight development, four Indian Air Force Rafale fighter jets were forced to retreat during a patrol mission over Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir after a swift and alert response from the Pakistan Air Force, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Wednesday.
According to the security sources, the incident occurred on the night of April 29–30, when the Indian Air Force deployed four Rafale jets to patrol within Indian airspace near the Line of Control (LoC).
However, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), acting with speed and precision, immediately detected the activity and initiated a responsive manoeuvre, prompting the Indian jets to disengage and retreat.
Security sources stated that the Pakistan Air Force's swift identification and timely action demonstrated its operational preparedness and sent a clear message of deterrence.
"Pakistan’s armed forces are fully prepared and alert to give a befitting response to any Indian aggression," the security sources added.
This heightened aerial tension comes just two days after India finalised a high-profile defence deal to purchase 26 additional Rafale fighter jets from France.
The announcement, made by the Indian Ministry of Defence on April 28, stated that the contract includes both single- and twin-seat variants along with training, weapons, and logistical support.
The newly acquired jets are intended to operate from India’s indigenous aircraft carriers and will eventually replace ageing Russian MiG-29Ks.
With this deal, India continues its effort to modernise its air fleet and diversify its military procurement away from traditional Russian suppliers, shifting towards France, the United States, and Israel.
India already possesses 36 Rafale aircraft acquired in a previous deal and has been showcasing them as part of its enhanced air power capability.
However, recent events suggest that numerical strength alone may not ensure strategic superiority near contested borders.
India evacuates more border villages
Following the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people, all Indians except one Nepali, India is whipping up the war hysteria with each passing day as now it has started evacuating all villages located along the Line of Control in Kashmir.
Sources told 24News TV channel that the Indian Army had evacuated more villages in the Samba Kathua and Akhnor sectors.
Prior to that, the Indian forces had told farmers in border villages to cut their wheat crop early.
Similarly, the Indian government, sources added, in order to keep the Indian people in the dark about the evolving situation and to go ahead with the propagation of Hindutva ideology, had also banned the Pakistani channels in the country.
Defence experts, on the other hand, have said that the people of India are not pleased with India’s warmongering at all.
The fact that India is taking illogical steps without presenting proof of Pakistan’s involvement in the Pahalgam attack shows its failure.
