'Bhai Bhai Channel (BBC) Urdu News' presenter Mehrunisa has become viral all over social media for her ‘idiotic’ and unprofessional flood coverage at the Ravi River in Lahore.
The girl has gained significant attention after two of her video clips went viral on social media, which many have found quite hilarious due to her flat tone and dramatic speaking style. At the same time, some criticised her for an insensitive tone despite her association with a prominent news channel.
In one of the clips, she can be seen reporting from a boat floating in the Ravi River due to the high water intensity, which makes her visibly shaken and anxious.
"Guys, as you can see, we are showing you, the water level is increasing, and our boat is unable to maintain balance in the water. I am very afraid of the situation, guys you just please pray for us." She said in the video: however, it was her candid tone and "Lahori style of speaking" which has amused many on social.
Commenting on the same, an internet user wrote, “Journalism peaked here.” Another added, “Why did she go reporting when she was this scared?” One said, “Lahori bhi hoon aur bahadur bhi hain.”
An internet user stated: "Very disappointing, BBC ki reporter ho kar bolna ni ata."
The controversy didn’t end there. A second clip soon went viral in which the presenter bizarrely explained the abbreviation “BBC” as “Bhai Bhai Channel,” insisting it was not the British Broadcasting Corporation.
She claimed the global broadcaster had objected to her channel’s use of the BBC name, and attempted to clarify that her outlet was different.
