Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has called on the rulers of Gulf countries to identify and confront what he described as the “real enemy”, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
In a message, Khamenei said the US and Israeli governments were enemies not only of Iran but also of the wider Muslim community.
He urged Gulf countries to recognise their common enemy, understand its plans and take steps to counter them.
Khamenei also called for stronger mutual defence and greater cooperation among countries in the region to deal with what he described as threats from their opponents.
Iranian President Masoud Peshkeshian said that if peace and stability are to be established in the world, it will emerge from our region.
He said no one can force a nation that stands with full strength and determination to surrender.
'We did not start a war, nor do we want war, but we will stand with full strength against any aggressor,' the president said.
Meanwhile, Iranian Speaker Baqir Qalibaf called the new regional agreements the beginning of a new era.
He said neighbouring Muslim countries will rely on their own capabilities instead of relying on external powers for their security.
According to Iranian media, in his message, Baqir Qalibaf said that recent regional situations have proven that external powers cannot provide lasting security to Muslim countries. Regional security should be based on the will, mutual cooperation and joint efforts of Muslim countries.
Further, Iranian Army Chief Major General Amir Hatami said foreign forces have failed to achieve their strategic objectives against Iran.
He said the enemy failed to achieve its goals in the recent confrontation. Iranian forces continued their operations until the last stage and responded to the enemy with missiles and drones. Iranian air defences also damaged several enemy drones and warplanes, including important strategic equipment.
