Army's role in Green Pakistan Initiative to serve farmers: COAS

Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir has shed light on the importance of agriculture, livestock and the Green Pakistan Initiative, reiterating the resolve to provide all-all-out support for the cause.


“Agriculture and livestock have been the occupations of almost every prophet, involving discipline, patience, growth and reward,” he said while addressing the National Farmers Convention on Friday.


He added: “Rumors and negativity are being spread about Pakistan, but you should know that only two states were established in the name of Kalma - the State of Tayyaba and the State of Pakistan. This is not a coincidence.


"Pakistan is rich in resources.  It has glaciers, rivers, mountains, and fertile land that provides the world's best products. It has resources like gold, copper and granite.


He continued: “Through a plot on social media, the speculations that the state is losing its existence. 


“In the 1960s, Pakistan was the fastest-growing country in Asia. But we forgot to follow three golden principles of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah - Unity faith, and discipline – resulting in degradation.


“Green Pakistan Initiative aims to work on agriculture first. A major portion of the proceeds of the Green Pakistan Initiative will go to the provinces and the rest will be kept for farmers and agricultural research. The role of the army is only to serve the people and the farmers.”


The army chief maintained: “Agriculture Malls will be arranged in all districts  Where all kinds of agricultural facilities will be available to the farmers.


“Provision of easy agricultural credit, cold storage chain, climate change-resistant seeds and genetically engineered livestock will be ensured. United we will crush all kinds of mafia.”


The farmers reaffirmed their resolve to second the struggle for revitalizing agriculture for prosperity.


They raised slogans like Allah-o-Akbar, Pakistan Zindaabad, Pakistan Army Zindabad
