3,700 govt vehicles challaned in Punjab in one month

Despite the crackdown launched by the Punjab traffic police on those violating traffic rules, it has been observed that even government officials have made a mockery of these rules as evident by the fact that 3,700 government vehicles were challaned in the province during the last one month, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

As per the statistics available with the 24News TV channel, 2,746 police personnel and 953 other government officials were challaned during the aforementioned period.

Similarly, 556 vehicles of the police department while 640 vehicles belonging to other government departments were impounded.

Traffic officials have said that the e-challan data is separate.

They have further said that in Lahore, on average challans fluctuating between Rs15,000 to Rs20, 000 are being, while in other 22 cities of the Punjab, the amount rises to Rs45,000.
