Begum Khaleda Zia was 'a committed friend of Pakistan'

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have expressed deep condolences on the sad demise of Bangladesh’s first woman prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia, saying she was a committed friend of Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a post on X timeline on Tuesday, President Zardari conveyed condolences to the family and the people of Bangladesh, lauding the leadership and services of late Khaleda Zia. “Her leadership and services will be remembered with respect,” President Zardari wrote.

The president also prayed to Allah Almighty for peace for the departed soul and strength for the people of Bangladesh to bear the loss.

In a statement uploaded on his X platform on Tuesday, PM Shehbaz Sharif said “Deeply saddened by the passing of Begum Khaleda Zia, Chairperson of the BNP and former Prime Minister of Bangladesh.”

He further said “Her lifelong service to Bangladesh and its growth and development leaves a lasting legacy.”

Shehbaz Sharif maintained “Begum Zia was a committed friend of Pakistan. My government and the people of Pakistan stand with the people of Bangladesh in this moment of sorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and the people of Bangladesh during this difficult time. May Allah SWT bless her soul. Ameen!”

Ishaq Dar condoles Begum Zia's death

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has expressed grief over the sad demise of former Bangladesh prime minister Chairperson of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Begum Khaleda Zia.

In a post on X platform Tuesday morning, Ishaq Dar said “May Allah SWT grant her high place in Jannah and patience to the bereaved family. Ameen.”
