A Sub-Inspector of the Crime Control Department (CCD) Okara has been arrested for his alleged involvement in defrauding and robbing citizens, police sources said on Tuesday.
According to police, Faisal Town Police Lahore arrested the Sub-Inspector, identified as Saifur Rehman, along with his accomplices. The accused was taken into custody from Faisal Town Police Okara and later brought to Lahore for further investigation.
Police sources said the accused, in collaboration with his accomplices, was involved in defrauding citizens in different cities. In one incident, an accomplice allegedly took a car on rent from a citizen named Qasim and later fled with the vehicle.
Following the incident, the car owner registered a case a few days ago. During the course of the investigation, police found evidence indicating the involvement of the Sub-Inspector with the accused, officials said.
After the matter was brought to the notice of senior officers, the Sub-Inspector was arrested. Police sources further claimed that the accused had carried out similar robberies in several cities.
Further investigation is underway.
